How much does probate cost?
Here are the costs relating to probate if you’d like to use our legal specialists.
Grant of probate/grant of letters of administration only – £849 plus VAT
Executors/administrators can then deal with the administration of the estate after we have obtained the grant for them.
Dealing with the entire estate (obtaining grant, collecting in assets and distributing to beneficiaries)
Average estate values are under £325,000 and with no inheritance tax payable, where this is the case our average prices are :

• HM Land Registry registration fees based on scales and the value and status of the property
• Other third-party costs will be advised as required, e.g. accountant’s fee for potential income tax return, statutory advertisement fee to advertise for unknown creditors, asset tracing fee
• There may be additional third-party costs for lost share certificates and share registrar and/or sale agent fees on transfer or sale of the shares
• S27 Advertisements in the London Gazette and a local newspaper in from £150 – £300 depending on the local newspaper advertising costs.
• Stockbroker fees – £25 – £150 depending on the number of shareholdings to be dealt with.
Our Power of Attorney & Capacity fees are fixed, and include the registration process with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), and providing certified copy documents for you at no extra charge. For more information on this service, please visit our Lasting Power of Attorney page.

Our fees for our Express Apostille service are £170 plus VAT (including the FCO Apostille fee of £75, and courier fee to/from FCO).
What does it cost?
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office charge £30 to affix an Apostille to a document. Their postal service usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. We can arrange this for you for a fee of £90 per document (including the FCO fee of £30, and courier fees), and this usually takes 4 to 5 days.
If you additionally require consular legalisation from a specific embassy, we can arrange this for you. Please let us know in advance and we can obtain a fee quote from our courier agent.

Statutory Declarations
We can prepare the statutory declaration or affidavit for you. Our fees for the preparation of this type of formal legal document range between £80 plus VAT and £150 plus VAT, depending on what is required.
Funding for mental health work is undertaken on a public funding (Legal Aid) basis subject to eligibility or on a private basis. Representation before the First-tier Tribunal (Mental Health) is non-means tested
Funding for mental capacity work is undertaken on private or a public funding (Legal Aid) basis subject to eligibility. Those people deemed to be deprived of their liberty or those who have been appointed as their Relevant Persons Representative will automatically be entitled to receive public funding when challenging the Deprivation of Liberty
